Father's Day Bear !

Okay, so I pretty much only buy stamps made by two companies, between the two of them, they have everything I could possibly want, or so I thought. I was in my LSS and I saw the Docrafts Wellington Bear stamp set. It is so adorable,(reminds me of Paddington) but I told myself that it wasn't my style (whatever that is), so I left without it. I went back the next day, there are some things you just have to have! I've made a few cards with the set and this is the latest. My Sheri Crafts challenge was a Father's Day card with embossing and that was kind of the starting point.

I coloured him with Copics. I embossed the paper behind him with Swiss Dots. That piece was die cut with Spellbinders Labels Twenty One. The wooden star is from Studio Calico. I used a TH Fragment and the No.1 stamp is from the same Docraft set. I really like using the Spellbinders Edgeabilities Inserts 6, without the edge. I just like the holes!
I am also entering this in the Tuesday Throwdown challenge " Inspired by Your Favorite Book". Like I said, he reminds me of Paddington and who doesn't love the Paddington stories?
Here are the challenges my bear is entering :

IO In the Air Challenge

It took a lot of thought to decide what I could do for the latest IO challenge.
http://mitrafriant.typepad.com/impression_obsession_news/2013/05/in-the-air-challenge.html
I decided on doing a gift card and keeping it simple (cough, cough). My card is 3 1/2x4 7/8. IO has these really cool heart shaped dies that have hearts in them. It made me think of doing a heart shape with butterflies in it. I cut a heart shape in the card base and layered a piece of acetate that I stamped with the Clouds C-A-C (CC091) behind it. I die cut a bunch of butterflies using IO's DIE046-A and filled in the heart with them. Because of the cloud stamp, you can't see the little bits of tape on the back of the butterflies from the inside. I used a little red chalk to emphasize the heart edge and stamped "love" using IO's "I wish for You" clear stamp set ( CL227), and in the spirit of keeping it simple, I only added linen thread, ribbon and lace, oh, and Stickles.

The IO Challenge ends on Wednesday and they have a random draw for a $25.00 GC to IO. Who doesn't need more stamps or dies ? Especially really great IO ones !

IO Challenge - I'm Thankful For ...

The Impression Obsession challenge this time is about what you're thankful for. That's easy, as we talk about it just about every time we see the news or read the paper. I am deeply and profoundly thankful to be living in Nova Scotia. We have four seasons, a moderate climate, wonderful people, gorgeous scenery, no poisonous anything, no man-eating reptiles, no natural disasters and we have healthcare. It's pretty freaking perfect here ! So here's my quick little card that celebrates the beautiful East Coast !

I'm also thankful to IO for their wonderful scenic stamps. My local LSS has been getting some IO stamps in, and the lighthouse scenes go over very well here !
This is done with IO stamp H1876 coloured with Copics, the background is the Clouds IO Cover-A-Card CC091 and the sentiment is from the IO I Wish for You set CL227.
The IO challenge is found on there blog here : http://mitrafriant.typepad.com/impression_obsession_news/2013/05/im-thankful-for-your-choice-challenge.html

JR #095 Window of Opportunity

Last minute again ! But better late than never, right? The JustRite Friday Challenge was to put a window in a card. I like this, it's something I used to do frequently.

I used a Webster's Pages die-cut to make a shaped card front. I folded part of it over the back of a A2 card base I made and I cut the front to match the die cut's edge. This gave me three layers to play with. I used a Sizzix postage stamp die to cut a cardstock frame, which I covered in white embossing powder and some glitter gold embossing powder. I stamped "You are the Best" ( from the JR Grand Sentiment stamp set) on a transparency  and embossed it, then stuck it behind the open window.

Through the transparency, you can see the pretty basket of carnations ( a vintage image from Internet). Open, you see the whole picture and the banner stamp from JR Botanical Medallions and Banners set. On the bottom layer is a semi-circle I cut to put the Mother's Day verse on and to sign the card.
The JR challenge is found here : http://justritestampers.typepad.com/justrite-inspiration/2013/04/justrite-friday-challenge-095-window-of-opportunity.html

Thanks to all my Blogger friends for all the well wishes ! Much Appreciated !

Who's Your Mama ?

My Sheri Crafts Challenge is to do a card that represents your mother, hence this post's title. I just got inspired by this pretty paper by Kaisercraft and this card kind of made itself. I finally (YAY!) got the Fanciful Flourish by Cheery Lynn Designs, so that's kind of going on everything right now. I cut it apart to use on this card, and I love how swirly it is. It's a super popular die in my area, and it comes in a little small size too that is super cute. No, this isn't an ad, I'm just a little excited, because it was always sold out whenever I tried to get it.
Anyway, my Mom has always been a gardener and she also loves birds and makes sure to remind me to keep the feeders filled.

This is the first "pretty" card that I've done in a while. I've been doing a lot in a completely different style. So I went almost ( hmm, no ribbon?) all out and added a lot of different things, including a blinged out piece of a MM glitter gem frame, a die cut out of glittery gold paper, pearls, chipboard, flowers, lace and a vintage image.

I'm entering this in the following:
