YIKES ! Two things I really don't do well combined! I wasn't going to try it and instead was making a type of card that I have made before and really enjoy playing with.
I wanted a bright and happy looking striped paper, but couldn't find quite what I wanted in my stash. I remembered I have the JR Ticking Stripe and I inked it up with four pigment inks going from red through to yellow. I clear embossed the paper and cut my kite out. I use round toothpicks attached to another kite shape cut out of fun foam to shape the kite around.
I hand cut some clouds and used two to mask the b'ground and sprayed with two blue Glimmer Mists. I used a glue pen to outline the clouds and added some glitter. I used a C'Bug Divine Swirls folder to emboss a sheet of acetate, which I attached with glue dots that are hidden under the kite and the cloud that's on top. I cut and attached some tails to twine and guess what ? It looked a lot like the JR sketch. The kite and its tails looked like a banner and all the stamps I used happened to be JustRite!
The sentiments are from the Banners and Buntings set and the Grand Sentiments set.
This is such a fun card to make, but a nightmare to photograph!

WHAT -- this isn't Christmas??? LOL -- guess our 'great minds' no longer think alike, huh?!!! It was bound to happen, I guess?!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Shona, this is the CUTEST kite card and oh SO clever!!! LOVE it!!!
That is so cool!!!! What a great take on the sketch! You clever, clever girl!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely is bright and happy! :)
Shona, this card is just too cute. I really like the kite, the tails is so colorful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute card!! Good luck with the JustRite Challenge!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I loved your comment on my Blog. I would love to get together and make hand made flowers with you!! Hugs!
Hi Shona ! Such a pretty, vibrant card! Looks like a lot of work, love the details. Thanks for your kind comment again at my blog, I love your enthusiasm. You mention that I created Orchids from the Leaves.... well I wasn't trying to do that, but if you say they are, I believe you as I think you worked with flowers. I'm a gardener but don't have too much knowledge about tropicals (can't grow them in Ontario!). Hope you are enjoying the day, it's beautiful here, I'm heading back outside for pruning... Shirleyx
