Oh No ! Another card for the Online Card Class. This time it's about watercolour in an embossed image, which I think is very cool, especially when some one other than me is doing it! The card in the video for this technique was lovely!
I did give it a try though, and try not to laugh at my card, sad as it is. I learned another valuable lesson about watercolouring while doing this card. Well, more than one actually, so I'm chalking this up as a valuable learning experience.
I used TH Distress inks, re-inkers, and a Flourish stamp.
Lesson #1- Try something easier to start with.
Lesson #2- If you can't see when the paint is dry, get up off your lazy butt and turn on some lights. Preferably before you lose your waterbrush and roll over it with your chair in the dark !!
( Think Monster truck, and you'll get a idea of me in this chair! )
Anyway... I don't like a lot of light (migraines), but I think this could have turned out better if I could have seen it properly. But the "you" is pretty. I used a Simon Says Stamp die to emboss it, with the idea that on the inside it would say "make every day fantastic", which is from a SSS stamp set.
I think it would be more appropriate if the inside said " suck at watercolours!", and I send it to myself ! :)
Seriously though, I don't expect my first efforts to be very good. Everything has a learning curve attached and I enjoy the process. I know that if I stay relaxed and have fun, and keep trying, this could be a wonderful way to make a lot of cards.
Beautiful, this is a very pretty card. C x
ReplyDeleteShona! That card is beautiful!! For your very first time, I'd say you rocked it!
ReplyDeleteYou are not only talented, but hilarious. I think you did a wonderful job on this card.
ReplyDeleteVery, very pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers!! And I love your blog title! I have cat hair in my ink, on my stamps, in my embossing powder... Lol!
ReplyDeletewhat are you talking about???? this card is lovely. you are a riot. I think you need a nap and look at it again. lol. the monster truck chair rings a bell in me.it can be a disaster when you roll over some craft items lol. I have an extending magnet to pick up metal things. also a flashlight and a gopher grabber. when you get old you need "props". have fun. I love your card.
ReplyDeleteLol you are hilarious. Yes light normally helps. Tough to paint in the dark.
ReplyDeleteYour watercoloring turned out great.
Watercolors can be tough media to work with especially on the embossed image. Have you tried inktense or watercolor pencil. I find it gives more control if colors?
This card is so pretty! I do agree with you that there's certainly a learning curve as with all new skills we learn and it's the first attempts that we learn from the most. Watercoloring was harder than I expected it to be but the only lessons in watercolor I had prior to this class was probably in elementary school. So I'll give myself a break. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteOuuuuuuuuuuh! Can't wait to take this class. Love your beautiful flowers!!
