I LOVE patterned paper, and it is #1 on my No Buy list. I have way too much and I don't have a clue as to what I'm ever going to do with it! I have piles of 6x6 pads, that I thought I would make beautiful cards with, and I almost never use it. I actually prefer to make my own backgrounds. Every card I make with patterned paper has been a struggle. I love the papers, but I really just don't know what to do with them! I am determined to use up some of paper. I swore I would use patterned paper on all my Xmas cards, so naturally the first Xmas card has a painted background. *sigh*
I have a sweet Impression Obsession die set that I hadn't used yet, and I decided it would be perfect to use with patterned paper for the Impression Obsession colour challenge "Feeling Blue". I am quite pleased with the way it turned out. (Although that may not be about the finished card, it could just be because blue makes me happy!)
I used a very old K&Co paper pad and cut all my patterned pieces from it, including the coffee pot and cup from the IO Coffee Set (DIE198-Q). I reversed the direction of the cup, so I could get the flower on the paper to be right side up and match the pot, but it would normally face the other way. The coffee beans were cut from that same die set. I was going to add a sentiment, but I think I'll hold off until I want to use this card. I have too many cards that don't work for what I want them to.
Judging from the miniscule amount of paper I used on this card, I'm going to need to live another 100 years in order to make enough cards to put a dent in my stash!
I love your choice of patterned paper and how you matched the mug and coffee pot. This is such a perfect card for a friend who loves coffee. Very pretty and creative card.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love that stamp set!
ReplyDeleteFabulous papers! Love the muted colors and peeking doily! Great use of the mug and coffee die Shona. It turned out fabulous! I love coming around and seeing different creations and leaving a comment when life permits. Glad I saw this one!
ReplyDeleteOoooh.. gorgeous! It looks like fabric! Thanks for playing the Impression Obsession Challenge!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I know what you mean! I have piles of 6x6 paper pads too and have no idea what to do with them either!...I like to make my own backgrounds too! :) I think you did a wonderful job here, the blue with perfect with this die set. I love how you did the gingham behind the pot. And the coffee beans, very cute. I actually think it is wonderful that the IO design team is finally commenting on the entries to the challenge! I have played for 5 or 6 years and no DT member ever commented with the exception of Shirley, who is wonderful (but no longer a part of things there)! And of course Ellen has commented over the last year or so which has been really nice, she makes sure to visit you when you have visited her. Two stars in my book! Okay, I don't think I will have time to enter this challenge but may see you on the next one. :) Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the two stars Katie!! You rock! I miss Shirley too! I used to have more time to leave comments but health issues arose. Luckily I am feeling top notch now! Hugs!
DeleteA beautiful card and I love the layout.
