Black, White and Pink All Over

Most card makers seem to love sketches judging from the number of sketch challenge blogs out there. I prefer to avoid those. Luckily JustRite only posts the occasional Sketch challenge, they like to mix it up with other types, which works for me! I am not one of those people who can look at a sketch and put together something brilliant, or in my case, even something mediocre. It has been suggested that my contrary nature rebels against being told what to do. Really? Moi? ( Shut it, Sis!)
I am in awe of people who can take a sketch and turn it into something amazing, and rather than drive myself crazy (again, shut it, Sis) I usually avoid doing them. I just can't stay away from JustRite , especially since I got the most gorgeous stamp set and couldn't wait to play with it ! I pretty much did a Happy Dance when I got Rose Bouquets Vintage Labels. I may hate long stemmed roses (especially red, OMG I can't stand red), but I adore miniature roses and the Rugosa roses that are planted all along one of the streets on my dog walking route. The scent is divine! So I had to have this set, and it's even better in person! Okay, so it doesn't take much to make me happy, and getting something that I will get a LOT of use out of pretty much always works! Practical and difficult, now you know all about me! LOL!
I pretty much knew from the start that I would use SB Gold Majesty Circles and half the rose image( the whole stamp is gorgeous, but only half would fit) from the Rose Bouquet set, and after numerous attempts in various colours, I settled on black, white and pink.

I also used the JR Sweet Lace Background stamp, the Garden Gate Background stamp, and the sentiment is from JustRite's Hydrangea Vintage Labels Seven. The music paper is some old Theresa Collins paper. I have quite a stash of it and wish I had even more! The ribbon is MME.
I'm glad I decided to do the challenge, I'm actually happy with the card (although it might just be that stamp), and I can't wait to see what Sheri has up her sleeve for the next challenge.

This card is entered in JustRite's challenge #124 found here: http://justritestampers.typepad.com/justrite-inspiration/2014/06/justrite-friday-challenge-124-sketch-inspiration.html

I am still having problems leaving comments. It may have something to do with all the Google Chrome problems I've had. I have cleaned the registry, and run numerous things to try and fix my issues. I installed and uninstalled Chrome four times. Everything seems to be back to normal except for my problem with Blogger. This is driving me crazy, But I'm not giving up!

Please take the time to visit the challenge and leave the fabulous girls some love since I may not be able to, and better yet, join us! ( Carmen, this means YOU!)
Kathy Jo, I tried three times to comment on your lovely blue and white card. The glossy tiled look is gorgeous and I am so glad you got the time to play at JR again!
UPDATE : My card was picked as a winner! I get to chose a set of JustRite branded dies to go with my fabulous stamps. YAY!!!

  1. Shona- beautiful card. I think black is a stunning color and your combo is lovely! I can see why you have a stash of that background paper, too.
That stinks that you are having problems with commenting. How frustrating! I appreciate your happy comments here. What a nice surprise!
Have a good evening and have fun playing with that rose stamp.

  5. Uhhh, seconding Sheri's comment here -- NO EXCUSE at all, GF!!! LOVE everything about this card, Shona!!!
I will have you know, not surprisingly, that I just received this stamp set on Monday and had it all colored, die cut AND a Gold Majesty Circles die cut to pop it onto when I took a small break to look at how many had posted. I HONESTLY thought you'd not yet posted (you usually are late like me, right? And using the same stamps/dies I'm using, totally unbeknown to each other, right?), so all of a sudden my eyes fell on your GORGEOUS card, only to REALIZE that it was YOURs!!! OMG, there was that dang Gold Majesty Circles, which I've had for awhile & NEVER used and wanted to use, then it 'dawned' on me that that wasn't the stamp from With Sympathy, but that SAME stamp I'd already colored, etc. -- LOL!!! So, sorry to 'copy' you (unknowingly again!), but at least I did change the die cut I was going to put my roses on! Too crazy that we have this same 'wave length', isn't it?!!! ;-)
